Citation for the FNSW State Award for Ray Guff
Ray Guff has spent much of his life involved with the Holy Cross Football Club.
Ray started playing for Holy Cross FC in 1981 and he hasn't missed a season since. In 2012 Ray played his 500th game with the club.
Ray began volunteering his time to help run the club during the early 90s. Since that time Ray has been a permanent volunteer - taking on various roles such as Secretary, Registrar, Treasurer, Grounds Coordinator, Gear Steward, Canteen Manager, Field Marker and Dresser - the list goes on. Ray has regularly held down more than one of these roles at the same time and, on top of that, he has found time to coach junior football.
Ray is a true stalwart of the club. Every Saturday during the football season he'll be found at the Holy Cross ground - dressing the fields or helping run the canteen . . . and always with good humour - Ray is always ready to share a laugh with the parents at Holy Cross on a Saturday morning.
It's hard to imagine Holy Cross FC without Ray Guff . . . and hard to imagine a more worthy recipient of this award.
