GHFA is sad to hear of the sudden passing of GHFA Life Member Geoff Driscoll. Geoff was involved with local and representative football for over 24 years starting out at Dundas United where he managed his son's teams from Under 6 to under 12s and where he was an active committee member.
He then moved on to West Ryde Rovers and later to Eastwood St Andrews, where he managed many teams including Premier League.
For over 10 years Geoff was actively involved with the Association including roles as Team Manager for GHFA Spirit first grade, U20s and Youth teams, as well as being GHFA Secretary and Representative Convenor. For many years Geoff was famous at Christie Park for his volunteer work on the fields, including line marking and everything else needed to keep the fields in shape, as well as his work behind the bbqs. He was one of the most loyal Spirit supporters, attending all home matches, and many of the away games.
Geoff was eagerly awaiting the completion of the new synthetic fields at Christie Park and the return of Spirit to their home, and it will be sad that he wont be there to see their opening.
Our thoughts go out to his family and the many friends he made through his involvement in football.
Geoff's funeral will be held Friday 8 Dec at 1.15pm at Palm Chapel, Macquarie Park Crematorium.
